(and down & dirrty)
The skinny:
For years, folks would ask me, "Why aren't you on socials?" I would always brush it off, say I didn't understand (enough though I was head of social at I company I worked for). The reality? I felt genuinely out of my depth. I felt uncomfortable and unfunny.
Hey. It took me being a senior in high school to even realise women could be funny. And yes, women had made me laugh before, obviously. But when you grow up with my mom, she doesn't exactly hit the top rung on "funniest people alive".
Anyway. Then one week, earlier this year, I got asked eight times why I wasn't on social. I took the sign.
I met a woman this year at Sundance - Sophie Emma Wells. What a powerhouse! She had started posting on social, so I reached out to her if she wanted to film. The first three videos we posted went viral (in our minds). 175k, 550k, 757k. I think I gained a thousand followers from that alone.
So we kept it up. Then people started reach out to us to film sketches together. I looked over to her and said, "Should we make a group or something?"
With a smile that showed all her teeth, "Yeah. I think We Need A Laugh.""
